Saints Supporter auctions exclusive gin which raises £760 for Foundation

A Northampton Saints supporter has auctioned a bottle of exclusive Warner’s Distillery Saints Gin to raise funds for Northampton Saints Foundation.

Kelly Costello Cox, a long-time Saints supporter, bought one of the 150 limited-edition bottles of specially-branded gin, which celebrated the new partnership between Northampton Saints and Warner’s Distillery.

Keen to raise money for the Foundation, Kelly listed the item on the ‘Saints Sinners’ Facebook page and was blown away when bids started to rise. As the auction finished Kelly had raised a huge £335 from the top bidder.

“I contacted the Admin of the Saints Sinners page to check it was ok to post an online auction, which was agreed to immediately,” she said. “I couldn't believe the bids that were coming in, I was only hoping to raise £50-£100. Saints supporters really are the best out there and to see the joy from the supporters when the total was raised really is heartwarming.”

After seeing the success of Kelly’s auction, two further bottles were donated – one by Tim Brennan, and the other Kelly sourced – which were then ‘sold’ to the second and third-highest bidders raising a further £225 and £200 respectively.

This also prompted some other donations to the Northampton Saints Foundation Virgin Money Giving page over the Xmas period.

Sue Wright, Fundraising, Grants and Events Officer, added: “Auctioning the gin bottles was a fantastic idea, and we’re thrilled with the grand total raised of £760 for the Foundation.

“The gin was in high demand and sold out in minutes, so it was a great way for fans to be able to get their hands on this rare treat whilst raising funds for the Foundation. The donations support our work with young students so is vital to us, especially as many other fundraising events have been cancelled over the past few months.”

We hope the winners enjoy their gin!
