Our stories

Our education and social inclusion programmes inspire the current generation to learn, develop new skills, increase confidence and where appropriate return to education, training or employment. Below are just some of the young people we've helped to build their positive future.

MIA'S STORY

Mia arrived at the Foundation emotionally and educationally lost but remained motivated and eager to achieve her academic qualifications, after a prolonged period out of school. She moved to the HITZ programme, following the completion of our Engage programme, where with support, she thrived socially and studied to become the most successful participant academically that the Foundation has ever seen. Her success was subsequently recognised as she reached the finals of the Premiership HITZ awards for the Academic Achiever award.

MASON'S STORY

Mason joined the HITZ programme in 2022 after finding social situations difficult, with many hurdles taking an effect on his mental and physical health. Since being at the Foundation, Mason has seen his confidence grow and has found a renewed belief in his own ability in both education and rugby. Mason continues to work towards his Level 2 Employability, GCSE English and Functional Skills Level 2 Maths qualifications.

CAMERON'S STORY

Cameron originally joined the Foundation's Engage programme after disengaging at school putting himself and others in danger. After moving schools and finding him at risk of another exclusion, he attended our Engage hub two sessions per week and took part in a number of physical, social and emotional development opportunities. With an aim to move onto the Foundation's HITZ programme, then an Apprenticeship, we saw a huge transformation and he became a mentor to other young people on the programme. Cameron now works at a local barbers working towards his Level 3 Apprenticeship.

OLIVER'S STORY

Oliver started attending the Foundation's Engage programme when his behaviour at school deteriorated. He was frequently late to school, was found wandering the corridors and absconding from school all together. On the SEN register at support level for speech, language and communication needs, Oliver's family wished him to have more confidence and learn how to self regulate his emotions. After attending the Engage programme three days a week, he was able to to build his confidence, social interaction and emotional resilience in a safe and containing environment. He made a return to full-time education and is making good process.
