Digital Content Apprentice

JOB DESCRIPTION  

Reports to:  Marketing & Communications Lead   
Location: cinch stadium at Franklin’s Gardens  
Contract type: Full-time, fixed-term 
Hours: 35 hours per week; 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday 
Annual salary: from £18,200 p/a

BACKGROUND  

Northampton Saints Rugby Football Club was formed in 1880, when Reverend Samuel Wathen Wigg identified rugby as a way to channel the energies of some of the county’s more troubled youngsters. More than 140 years on, Northampton Saints Foundation continues his legacy, using the power of sport and the values of rugby to INSPIRE, SUPPORT and EDUCATE thousands of people each year. Our education and social inclusion programmes inspire the current generation to learn, develop new skills, increase confidence and where appropriate return to education, training or employment.   

ROLE 

Northampton Saints Foundation are delighted to be offering the opportunity for a talented Digital Apprentice to join our Marketing & Communications Team. 

This is an exciting position for a creative individual to help elevate the Foundation’s digital content output across all online platforms, to increase awareness and engagement for both new and existing followers. 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for marketing, a want to develop and grow their knowledge/skills, keep up with trends and be able to maintain a strong, engaging, and professional public presence. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow content briefs and add own creative flare to capture photos and videos at workshops, events, and programmes; creating reels, behind-the-scenes content, interviews and highlights  
  • Edit raw footage into polished videos for social media and presentations 
  • Keep up to date with social media trends and be proactive to create videos with the Foundation team 
  • Stay up to date with national and local statistics which relate to the Foundation 
  • Maintain and organise a photo/video library  
  • Design branded visuals including social media cover photos, graphics, posters and leaflets 
  • Ensure all deigns meet brand guidelines and are in line with the marketing strategy 
  • Assist with blog writing, copyediting, and repurposing content for different channels. 
  • Schedule and post content across platforms (e.g. Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok). 
  • Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and flag issues where appropriate. 
  • Assist in growing followers and engagement in line with campaign goals. 
  • Check for broken links, outdated pages, or formatting issues and fix accordingly. 
  • Support the planning and delivery of digital campaigns (e.g. fundraising, awareness, event promotion). 
  • Help track campaign activity and pull together post-campaign reports and insights. 
  • Help draft, format, and schedule email newsletters or supporter updates. 
  • Maintain subscriber lists and ensure GDPR compliance. 
  • Ensure all content aligns with the Foundation’s visual identity, voice, and values. 
  • Follow internal content and brand guidelines. 
  • Carrying out research for team projects, trends and news stories 
  • Sharing related content from partners and organisations with their social media audience 
  • Support marketing colleagues with administrative tasks. 
  • Attend internal team meetings and contribute creative ideas for digital activity. 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong written English and communication skills  
  • Basic digital literacy and confidence using web-based tools  
  • A diploma or certificate in a relevant field such as Marketing, Communications, Media or Journalism, Digital Media / Creative Media, English OR equivalent practical experience in digital content creation. 
  • Experience creating content for digital platforms (e.g. websites, social media, blogs, email). 
  • Basic familiarity with social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok). 
  • Understanding of how to write for online audiences. 
  • Experience using tools such as Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Express, email platforms (e.g. Mailchimp), Saleforce or similar 
  • Familiarity with image or video editing software (e.g. iMovie, Canva Photoshop). 
  • Have a full driving license and ability to travel  
  • Experience working or volunteering in a charity, not-for-profit, or community organisation (desirable)
