Location: Tresham College (Corby & Wellingborough campuses) and Franklin’s Garden’s, Northampton
Contract type: Term-time only, Fixed-term to June 2026
Salary: £23,656 full-time equivalent
Working Hours: 30 hours per week; 9:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. OR 18 hours per week; 9:00am – 4:00pm, 3 days per week
Start date: September 2025

BACKGROUND
Northampton Saints Rugby Football Club was formed in 1880, when Reverend Samuel Wathen Wigg identified rugby as a way to channel the energies of some of the county’s more troubled youngsters. More than 140 years on, Northampton Saints Foundation continues his legacy, using the power of sport and the values of rugby to INSPIRE, SUPPORT and EDUCATE thousands of people each year. Our education and social inclusion programmes inspire the current generation to learn, develop new skills, increase confidence and where appropriate return to education, training or employment.
ROLE
The successful candidate will help to provide creative and stimulating learning opportunities to develop the young people’s personal and social skills. The candidate will help provide and support a safe learning environment which enables every young person to develop through holistic learning.
The successful candidate will be honest, hardworking, and have an excellent understanding and share the values of the foundation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the guidance of the programme Tutor, the successful candidate will be involved in working with individuals or small groups of young people to support the education, personal and social development of students and establishing positive relationships to assist students to complete structured learning and enrichment activities. Duties may include:
- Assist in planning and leading of the department’s enrichment calendar of activities on and off-site
- Engage students in the enrichment activities to meet their needs and ensure it cross-references with curriculum delivery.
- Create a positive relationship with students and contribute to a positive environment.
- Support the classroom-based learning activities, working with individual or small groups of students.
- Assist in reporting and analysing key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Assist the development of varying skills that support students' learning
- Support the Tutor with producing learning resources
- Support pupils with social and emotional wellbeing, reporting problems to tutor as appropriate.
- Assist with pupil supervision both on-site and off-site and help to keep the young people safe.
- Reporting pupil progress to line managers and support with monitoring and recording of student progress and developmental needs, and key performance indicators.
- Develop and promote positive working relationships with staff, pupils and parents and promote the values of the Foundation.
- Attend meetings where necessary.
- Work within the Foundation’s policy and procedures
- To support tutor with high standards of health, safety and behaviour control
- Be fully conversant and up to date with Foundation’s safeguarding protocols and processes
- Positively contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the Foundation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- GCSE Maths & English Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience of working with young people of a relevant age in a voluntary or work experience capacity is desirable.
- Experience of delivering sport and physical activity sessions to support physical and mental wellbeing.
- Able to lead, motivate, inspire and engage both students and staff in activities.
- Excellent IT, written and verbal communication skills along with initiative, tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to be solution focused, innovative and flexible in approach.
- An ability to use initiative, problem solve and ‘think outside the box.’
- Ability to communicate and conduct professional relationships with children, young people, and adults.
- Ambitious, inspiring and passionate about pupils learning enabling them to meet their full potential.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children and young people.
- Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
- Good organisation and time management skills
- Committed to demonstrating the highest standards.
- Positive mindset, reliable and resilient.
