BACKGROUND
Northampton Saints Rugby Football Club was formed in 1880, when Reverend Samuel Wathen Wigg identified rugby as a way to channel the energies of some of the county’s more troubled youngsters. More than 140 years on, Northampton Saints Foundation continues his legacy, using the power of sport and the values of rugby to INSPIRE, SUPPORT and EDUCATE thousands of people each year. Our education and social inclusion programmes inspire the current generation to learn, develop new skills, increase confidence and where appropriate return to education, training or employment.
ROLE
Responsible for delivering practical based content of existing programmes for Northampton Saints Foundation at a SEMH school out of county.
The successful candidate will be passionate, hardworking, and motivated to provide young people with engaging content and skills to enhance their learning and their future.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To deliver high quality, inclusive and engaging practical based sessions, either in dual delivered programmes in partnership with our classroom Education officers or within stand alone practical based programmes
- To converse with the Education Officer, if present, with regards to the focus/direction of sessions to showcase practical application of skills/values
- To have an understanding of working with young people with special education needs (SEND), social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) and behavioural difficulties.
- To understand the broad spectrum of Club and Foundation education programmes enabling comprehensive, high quality delivery of relevant content.
- To support in the continuous development of current and new programmes to enhance content and quality, meeting the Foundations ambition of ‘best in class’ programmes.
- To ensure high standards of health, safety and behaviour control whilst delivering Foundation programmes.
- Be fully conversant and up to date with safeguarding protocols and processes within an education setting.
- To develop relationships with education settings throughout delivery that ensure repeat bookings and retention.
- Positively contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the Foundation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- GCSE Maths & English Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
- Level 2 Coaching qualification
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- An understanding / experience of working with young people with special education needs (SEND), social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) and behavioural difficulties.
- Ability to communicate and conduct professional relationships with children, young people, and adults.
- Ambitious, inspiring and passionate about pupils learning enabling them to meet their full potential.
- Experience of delivering practical sessions in education settings is essential
- Willingness to learn more/have interest in moving towards delivering within a classroom setting
- Knowledge of various sports/ delivery of multi-sport sessions
- Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children and young people
- Flexible and adaptable to the needs of the service. Excellent adaptability skills to accompany their teaching style to suit the relevant year group.
- Excellent behaviour management and organisation skills.
- Be able to build quick relationships with pupils and colleagues along with having confidence in their own teaching ability.
- Ability to build strong relationships, work independently and as part of a delivery team
- Ability to self-motivate and use initiative.
- Committed to demonstrating the highest standards.
- Positive mindset, reliable and resilient.

A full, clean driving license and access to a vehicle to travel to sites is essential. Mileage will be paid at 45p per mile, from Northampton Saints Foundation to location.
