The coaching workshop, which took place last week, has been speciality designed for the Foundation by Doug Ferguson and Mel Hayward, Volunteer Leadership and Development Consultants.
The experienced duo have become a staple in the Foundation’s academic calendar with their award-winning CV and Interview workshop which ensures all young people on its HITZ programme leave with the skills they need to gain employment. The Foundation were thrilled to offer this opportunity to businesses that are supporting their Founder 15 scheme in a three-year partnership deal.
The day, which catered to those who are looking to develop themselves, used tried, tested and current methodologies to upskill delegates to become a more effective coach. Delegates discussed tips and tools for coaching, assessed and reflected on their own listening skills and explored the GROW coaching model by taking part in role play scenarios
After lunch, the group focussed their attention on effective and ineffective feedback and the AID (Action, Impact and Do) model and how this can be applied when giving feedback.
“I thought the course to be well delivered and established a number of skills that will be useful in my role.”Zeke Mabbutt, Deputy Manager at The Training Space
"We had a thoroughly enjoyable day with a very participative group who were open to learning." said Doug. "It was a pleasure and an honour to continue our support work with the Foundation”
A delegate from MPA added "The course was well run and the content very informative. I am sure we all walked away with something whether it was a useful tool that can be used in our day to day working and coaching of staff, enhancing existing knowledge or building confidence in this area. I certainly gained knowledge and skills which I will use. The trainers were interesting characters which made the course engaging”
