Saints Foundation partners up with ‘Always a Chance’ for Leicester cycle

With Northampton Saints’ trip to face East Midlands rivals Leicester Tigers just over a month away, the Foundation is gearing up to take on a daunting challenge of its own in partnership with ‘Always a Chance’.

After a group of Foundation riders completed the ‘Gardens to Gate’ challenge earlier in the season, fundraising and partnerships manager Matt Goode and social inclusion manager Jordan Letts will be using their pedal power once again.

“Always a Chance were our first partner and without them we wouldn't have achieved all we have to date.”

But they will be joined by representatives from Foundation partners Portman Asset Finance, Boost Trampoline Parks, Whittlebury Hall, Bearward Engineering, and Greencore for a northward cycle to Leicester.

The challenge will see the group cycle all the way from Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton to Welford Road in Leicester on Friday 22 March – arriving in time to see Saints take on Tigers in the Gallagher Premiership.

Their 34-mile route will wiggle through the East Midlands countryside via Market Harborough, with all funds raised split evenly between the Saints Foundation and ‘Always a Chance’.

“The rivalry between Northampton Saints and Leicester Tigers is of course a storied one, and this year we wanted to mark such a special rugby occasion with an event of our own,” said Goode.

“We’re really excited to team up with ‘Always a Chance’, another Northamptonshire-based charity that puts those vulnerable individuals within our community at the forefront of their attention.

“I hope we can raise not only a good amount of money for both of these worthy causes, but also raise awareness of ‘Always a Chance’ and the amazing work they are doing – they were our first partner and without them we wouldn't have achieved all we have to date.”

‘Always a Chance’ works to fund projects that work with young people and support the victims of violent crime in Northamptonshire and beyond, and aims to prevent violent crime by funding projects working with young people who are outside full-time education and employment.
